DIOR & The shell trend: Next year, it will still be on men's fashion list

the Dior homme pre-fall 2020 show, presented in Miami, was definetely one of our favourites.

Scene silhouettes infused with cool, thought in collaboration with Shawn Stussy, floral and tropical shirts and relaxed tailoring were some of the main characteristics of the ready to wear collection.

What about the accessories though?

We loved the berret hats but we also noticed the seashell jewelry trend which it seems to be even more bold from next season onwards.

Editor’s note:

For 2 years, shell jewelry has been on all fronts, inviting itself on necklaces, bracelets, earrings and even anklets, infusing a touch of cool to the silhouettes that adopt it.

Givenchy Pre-Fall 2020: The Lookbook Presentation

For the Givenchy Pre-Fall 2020 collection, Artistic Director Clare Waight Keller took cues from Antiquity and transposed them to modern wardrobes designed for movement.

As lensed by photographer Sam Rock, contrasts of air and sea in an urban waterfront evoke the ebb and flow of history, nodding to the timelessness of mythology and the universal need to reconnect with nature.

REY EXCLUSIVE: Interview with the Fashion Editor Luca Falcioni

The new Men’s Fashion Editor of Schön! Magazine talks exclusively on REY.

The Italian stylist who managed to put his name in some of the most important fashion publications ( Wonderland, Vogue, L’Officiel and more), talks to REY about fashion and styling, his personal experience in fashion and many more.

After studying and working in Rome, Luca moved to London to work in fashion. For him everything started at Selfridges where he used to work. His passion for fashion made his clients to want more and more from him and his personal styling skills push him to search more about it.

Was it easy for you to get the first job as a fashion stylist?  How have you started your fashion journey?

My first experience in fashion was as an intern in the Fendi Head Office in Rome. I spent 6 months working on: digitisation of the brand's historical archive, rearranging and making a selection of sketches by Karl Lagerfeld, organising exhibitions of furs in Japan, dealing with the restoration of ready-to-wear and accessories from the archive (only to mention a few). It was an incredible experience! I learned a lot from it and definitely made me understand how to deal with different situations in the world of work. My strength of will and curiosity have always guided me during my journey. After the internship I moved to London looking for a new adventure. I started working for Selfridges, famous luxury department store in Central London, as a client advisor first and then as a manager. After years on the shop floor dealing with clothes and styling clients, from all over the world, I suddenly understood that styling was my real passion. Mixing and matching different garments and brands I was able to express myself creating looks. So I decided to look for an internship in the editorial business and Wonderland was my start up. I was in charge of 4 different publications (Wonderland, Man About Town, Rollacoaster and Gaytimes). I started just shooting for online. I was constantly experimenting with styling and working with different artists and after few months I started shooting printed projects. From that moment on, I have never stopped: covers, editorials, worldwide campaigns (Swatch, Netflix, Fiorucci, Police just to name a few) and celebrities.

How would you describe yourself as a stylist? What is your vision?

My personal style is sexy, rock n’ roll which influences my work too. On set I use lot of leather, transparent garments, ripped denim, animalier prints, lace and accessories. I love making models/ talents feel confident and sensual. I have created my own aesthetic through the idea of beauty that I have developed over the experiences and the years. Once Sofia Loren said :'A woman’s dress should be like a barbed-wire fence: serving its purpose without obstructing the view’. Italia is love, sex and culture. Being Italian definitely has influenced my vision.

 Editorial or Celebrity styling?

I like both! When I am on set with models i don’t have any filters, I can let my imagination runs wild. They follow my directions and wear whatever I want.

Completely different when I style celebrities, they have their own brand to consider. My job is to make them happy and confident spotlighting their personalities. It is definitely more challenging than models. But I am an Aries, I love challenges!

In your job you have to study about fashion and search for ideas all the time. How do you find inspiration for your projects?

My main sources of inspiration are: music, art, cinema and fashion. Living in this era where technology is fundamental, social media definitely influence and inspire my work too. Even my country has been influenced me through: the origins, history, culture, and therefore its cinema, its literature and the characters that were its icons.

Have you found your muse? Any other models we should watch?

Personally I have more than one. I always discover new people who are a source of artistic inspiration. Right now I am obsessed with : Zendaya, Rosalia, Lizzo and Billie Ellish. They are all strong, stylish and talented women. In terms of model I am obsessed with : Aweng Chuol (who I shot for Collectible Dry), Fernando Lindez, Alton Maison, Mica Argañaraz.

You have worked with a lot of celebrities. Which collaboration was your favourite and why?

Few months ago I worked on one of the most memorable projects I've done so far. I styled the worldwide campaign for Police ( brand that produces sunglasses and accessories) with Lewis Hamilton. The formula one driver has been five times Formula One World Champion. He is often considered the best driver of his generation and widely regarded as one of the greatest drivers in the history of the sport. Fast cars are not just his interest, he is also really into fashion. Lewis has teamed up with the American fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger to create his own line called TommyXLewis and he did the same with Police designing his own sunglasses collection.

Styling and spending time with him on set was really inspiring. Unfortunately I can’t tell you more… the campaign is coming out soon. Can’t wait to share it with all of you!

Even shooting one of the main character from Game of Thrones : Maisie Williams. She was so lovely on set and she looked stunning wearing all Moschino for the cover story. I decided to make her completely different than the character she played in the famous series. She was colourful, sexy and confident. Stay tuned more celebrities and amazing projects are coming out soon.

Do you follow the trends? Which look is your favourite for this autumn/winter? (menswear)

it all depends if i am into the trend. I always try to propose stories that represent me and my vision.

My favourite trends for Autumn/ Winter are : grunge, dyed hair, cargo pants, military and oversize tailoring.

Favourite new designers?

Marinne Serre, Richard Quinn, Dilara Findikoglu Daniel Flewtcher, CMMN and John Lawrence Sullivan.

I’m also obsessed with Daniel Lee, the new creative director of Bottega Veneta. I really like his vision, his daring and courageous creativity.

Favourite SS20 collections?

Prada, Louis Vuitton, Fendi and Ludovic De Saint Sernin.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to start a career in fashion?

First of all choose an area of fashion where you would like to work. Fashion jobs include everything from: photography, styling, merchandising, buying to designing. Try your hardest to get as much experience as possible : internships are always a good way to start.

Don’t give up. Life rewards those who work hard at it.

Any future plans or project you would like to share with us…

I am travelling a lot this year and I have a lot of stories and a couple of campaign dropping soon. Look out for them across my channels below:

The sequel of "Call Me By Your Name" is coming soon...

Author of the novel "Call Me By Your Name" André Aciman, has announced that he is writting the sequel of the romantic story.

As we read in Vogue Hommes, the second novel (and possibly movie) might be out sooner than we expectecd. Even though before sharing the news and all the details we know let’s put the context back.

In 2017, Call Me By Your Name was treated to Italian director Luca Guadagnino's film adaptation , starring prodigy actor Timothée Chalamet and Armie Hammer . If, after the boxing of the feature film Oscarized, the director announced to prepare a sequel to his film, the author himself revealed on Twitter, in December 2018, that he would pursue the romance between his characters with a second book: "I'd love to have 'Call Me By Your Name', and I'm actually writing it . " A boon for all those who have been blown by André Aciman and his ability to provide so many emotions through the simple prism of words.

The good news ? We know the title and some details of the novel. According to Vulture , the publishing house Farrar, Straus and Giroux has indicated, via a statement, that it will be a direct result of the first installment. Samuel , the father of Elio , just divorced, would undertake a trip from Florence to Rome during which he makes a meeting about to change his life, while his son, become a classical pianist, will fly to Paris. Oliver , now a teacher in a school in the United States, would think of returning to Europe. Entitled Find Me , this second part will be released on October 29, 2019. We are already looking forward to it.

On set at a fish and chip shop in northern London, Harry Styles appears in the new GUCCI men’s Tailoring campaign.

Wearing the House’s suiting designed by Alessandro Michele for Fall Winter 2018, Harry Styles walks in a ‘chippy’—the traditional British fish and chip shop—with a chicken and a dog. In Barcelona with El_Isleño

Architect and model Valandis Kallis can’t get enough of Barcelona. The spicy Greek Cypriot lad is 'falling in love' with travelling every summer, and here he reveals his favorite places from Barcelona; go-to beach, clubbing, site seeing and more.

His favourite area to stay is the Eixample of Barcelona. "Grab a coffee, a fresh bocadillo and press play on your ipod. Enjoy a long walk starting from Rambia de Catalunya, skipping the croud of Las Ramblas and get lost in the old streets of Raval" he noted.

Valandi's favourite destination is always the sea, and in Barcelona he had the opportunity to walk across the coastline and feel the vibe of the beach life.  "Final stop of my long walk was the W hotel where I stopped at the beach next to it. After that the steps are simple. Shoes off,  walk on the gold sand and relax by enjoying a glass of cold tasty sangria."

El Isleño ( his Vlog name and Instagram ) has recently started vlogging and we can't stop watching his latest video from his trip in Barcelona.

Fall Winter 2017 Most popular womenswear trends

As the season is changing and we are transitioning into Autumn/Winter a lot of new trends emerge. This is a rundown of what I’m personally loving and what we’ll be seeing a lot of in these coming months.

Total red looks (head to toe red)
From the legendary Karl Lagerfeld Fendi runway show to the MaxMara high fashion collection the head to toe red is s must. The Givenchy collection was predominantly entirely in this colour pallet making it super bold, feminine, sexy, and intriguing. Go for it you will not regret it!

MaxMara

Glitter, metallics
Metallics were seen in so many shows adding a fresh contemporary twist to classic quilted jackets to the spaced themed Chanel runway.
Isabel Marant and Dolce Gabbana were filled with sequences and sparkles whereas in JW Anderson the metallic in dresses and tops were given a chainmail take, reminiscent of the Paco Rabanne 60’s famous signature.
Glittery boots can be considered a must have of the season and have already spotted in so many runways. The glittery effect of the Chanel boots and the Swarovski shine sparkles of the Yves Saint Laurent will make the stare and the price worth the while.

CHANEL

Plaid
Plaid, check and houndstooth are very popular this season and although no pattern is the same with one another I’m grouping them together since they are originally based within the same contrasting colour tones.
This season we can also see them translated into brighter colours and designers have incorporated a variety of fabrics, from the classic grey plaid suits seen on the Calvin Klein runway to classic coats for the Prada runway collection.
Plaid was also used in Michael Kors dresses, Louis Vuitton jackets and check jumpsuit in Chanel.
Different patterns of plaid and different colours were included in the shows.

CHANEL

CHANEL

Velvet
Velvet will still be strong this season from velvet suits to bags and shoes it is a show stopper textile in different richer brighter colours, ochre yellow, emerald green, navy, burgundy and pink.
Velvet is synonymous with luxury and has been incorporated in many runways including Valentino,
Opening Ceremony, Philip Lim and Luisa Beccaria.

Belt bags
A new entry in accessories are belt bags and another ode to the 90’s I might add.
Slowly being introduced last season and now a statement staple with some of my favourites being the Gucci velvet ones, the studded and to the more edgy, trunk Prada ones.
I’m already deciding which one will be mine.

Suits
Suits are a favourite go to investment piece and if you have not already given it a try now is the time, since suits have come a long way from the work wear appropriate attire.
From plaid to minimal monochrome suits, and lined straight cut designs to blazers that cinch in the waist for a more feminine look.
Combined with crispy white shirts and decorated bows will make a suit stand out and translate it for more formal outings or paired with a slogan t-shirt and some jewellery for every day.

Jeans on jeans
It seems that last year we didn’t get enough of the trend and this year is back on track. The double denim ootd is having a moment but this time the colours of the denim are the same giving it a true all American blue vibe..

Puffy Padded jackets
Oversized puffy jackets are here to make a statement for the Balenciaga bright red jacket to the Tory Burch quilted dresses seem like there are here to stay.
The collections have re-designed and transcended the puffer jackets for 2017 by adding more volume, and more details as well as also using in some cases a more matte fabric instead of the glossy materials we were used to before.
Invest in bright colours for maximum impact.

Vinyl- matrix
Vinyl started making a comeback.
From vinyl trousers, in reds and black, to vinyl coats and skirts.
Glossy vinyl or either patent vinyl combined with brighter or deeper colours can give that effortless cool vibe.  The futuristic look that vinyl has to offers gives a sling sexy appearance and you can opt for a full on matrix-looking coat or outfit or if you want to dip your toes in this trend go for trousers or a vinyl looking jacket.
