Amidst the stellar shows of Milan Mens Fashion Week, a singular brand dared to stand out. JordanLuca, the rising cult label, known for its bold, unconventional style brought London punk streetwear to Milan. Christina Dymioti captured the electric energy from the front row.
by Christina Dymioti
Founded in 2019, JordanLuca is a couture streetwear label which seamlessly blends the English and Italian heritage of its founders Jordan Bowen and Luca Marchetto. It is noteworthy that Mr. Pan Phillipou, the co-founder and Chairman of the brand, previously served as the CEO of Diesel and Ben Sherman. He has a background of Cypriot and Irish descent.
Heritage tweeds were reborn with punkish spikes as JORDANLUCA's Fall/Winter 2024 collection expertly wove rebellious details into timeless tailoring. Walking into the JordanLuca runway, silver balloons, like bloated dreams, hung from every seat, and the runway was a buoyant ocean of 1,500 more. These unique balloons were designed by artist Dominic Myatt.
The clothes themselves were Punk-inspired in subversive classics. The show kicked off with tailored overcoats worn with face-hugging headwear and straight-fitting trousers, which lapped leather angular boots. Later, the same headwear was contrasted with grey suiting, where a fastened jacket covered a shirt and the renowned JordanLuca tie.
Dark eyeliner offered contrast, injecting a club-ready sensibility into an otherwise pared-back look. In fact, there was a surprise runway appearance by Andreas Kronthaler, the Creative Director of Vivienne Westwood who is also a close friend of Marchetto. Andreas graced the runway in a head-to-toe black look, a stark contrast to the buoyant balloons.
We saw leather used to craft structured jackets, with mohawk hair styling, and chunky silver jewellery, injecting a counter-cultural edge into the look. As the show continued the party theme was seen in white blouses and dresses, finished with multicoloured polka dots. The women's pieces were particularly striking, riffing on ladylike codes with fierce and sensual numbers like the standout red leather minidress and the bias-cut frock that wrapped endlessly around the body.

In essence, JordanLuca's Milan Fashion Week show transcended the ordinary, creating a dynamic narrative where balloons, Brutalist blazers, and a bittersweet hope converged. This singular brand, daring to be different, not only showcased rebellious details but also became a testament to the electric energy, leaving an indelible mark on the canvas of Milan Mens Fashion Week.
However, the party didn’t end there; it escalated into an epic rave. Collaborating with Berlin techno powerhouses 𝕳𝖊𝖗𝖗𝖊𝖓𝖘𝖆𝖚𝖓𝖆, they organized a massive party within a series of abandoned warehouse arches on the city's outskirts.

Tell us a bit more about you. Where are you from originally? What are your hobbies and your interests?
I was born and raised in a village of about 150 inhabitants in the northwest of Greece. I always loved music, so after I turned 18, I decided to follow my dreams and be involved with it in every way possible. My goal was to be able to turn my hobby into a profession so that I could not only enjoy myself but also make others happy too.
As of my hobbies, I love waking up early in the morning, go to the gym and then following hours in the studio.
When was the first time you remember yourself being influenced by music?
That was definitely back in the nineties, when my father bought me my first cds. I remember listening to them at home at his high quality sound system, as he was a music lover too. That was something which has had a clear influence on me.
What inspires you most when it comes to music?
I would say Travelling, which is something I am very fond of.
Who is your favourite music artist?
One of my favourite artists is Dixon.
Your song ‘Keep On’ feat. Coco was quite a success back in 2021. Are we going to see new music from you soon?
This is something I have been working on very hard lately. So yes, we will release new tracks this summer!
Where has the name Tourist Ath came from? Tell us more about it.
If I could describe myself in one word that would definitely be "tourist"
Single and ready to mingle?
Free :)
As we already know you are based in Athens. Where can we see you playing at during the season?
I have a residency at Zelus Athens, where I play 2 Saturdays per month and it really feels like home to me.
And what’s next?
I have achieved a lot so far but I never stop dreaming, as I believe that progress and self-development end when our dreams die.

In the series "Constructs of Desire," my lens delves into the intricate interplay of body language, gender, and sexuality, inspired by the spirited debates ignited by Cameron and Kulick's (2003) groundbreaking work, "Language and Sexuality." This collection captures a fusion of analogue black and white and colour photography, accentuated by light leaks and a vintage aesthetic. The title itself, "Constructs of Desire," nods to the multifaceted nature of desire explored within the images.
Cameron and Kulick expanded the study of desire beyond mere sexuality, introducing the concept of ontological desire—an individual's yearning to embody or emulate qualities intrinsic to a specific identity. In the context of masculinity, this desire extends beyond societal constraints, revealing a compelling exploration of self-construction within cultural discourses.
Drawing inspiration from Stephen Whitehead's (2002) discourse on masculine ontology, the series navigates the pursuit of being and becoming masculine through performative acts. Masculinity, viewed as a social phenomenon, unfolds as a constant engagement in discursive practices that suggest and reinforce the desired identity. Through a lens of cultural discourses, the desire to construct and validate one's masculine self becomes a focal point.
The visual narratives within "Constructs of Desire" transcend traditional gender norms, as a physically powerful yet vulnerably posed male model challenges preconceptions. Portraits capture not only the details of a well-defined physique but also the adoption of feminine poses, emphasising the performative nature of desire, both ontological and interpersonal.
"Constructs of Desire" invites viewers to contemplate the multifaceted dimensions of desire, masculinity, and identity. Through a visual journey, this series challenges conventional norms, encouraging a deeper understanding of the performative acts that shape and express desire within the complex interplay of body language, gender, and sexuality.

Armando notes, ‘‘With this fashion shoot we want to pay homage to Old Hollywood, especially the silent era films (1895 - 1930). It’s still a great source of inspiration, even though those movies were created more than a century ago. They would feature icons like Laurel and Hardy, Charlie Chaplin & Buster Keaton.
This production can best be viewed while playing some Cab Calloway in the background (1907 – 1994).’’

The collaborative collection by JW Anderson and A.P.C. draws its creative spark from Joseph Beuys's iconic performance art piece, "I Like America and America Likes Me."
The collection embodies Beuys's abstract concepts through subtle design elements. The rough texture of the duffle coat subtly recalls the felt from his performance, while the ambulance and gallery address become graphic motifs woven into boldly coloured T-shirts and various pieces.
Comprising attire for both women and men, the collection centres around two distinct silhouettes: one, with a tailored and rocker aesthetic featuring black denim, a biker jacket, and hand-painted cotton knit; the other, a more bohemian style with loose shapes, multi-coloured knitwear, and distressed denim. A notable innovation is the introduction of stonewashed effects achieved through laser techniques, eliminating the need for chemical processes.

Dappled morning sunlight oozes through breeze-blown curtains, a golden honey glow that caresses everything in its path. Eyelids begin to flutter awake, the final moments of a dream evaporating like a mirage, as consciousness gathers in that enchanted space just below the surface of awareness. Between these two worlds all things seem possible, all things are attainable. If only this delicious disorientation could permeate the day.
And so a languid Sunday unfurls, quietly meandering from the tousled bed with its memories of the night before and on into a day of playfulness and contemplation. Hunter knows the value of these rejuvenating moments, essential time both for gazing within while expanding outward individuality, an occasion to calmly focus before embarking on the dynamic week ahead. There is no schedule to follow, decision to be made, or appointment to keep, just hours in which to reconnect with himself and the wistful remembrance of comfort and dreams. By day’s end, replenished and energized, he’s once again ready to welcome Monday with open arms.
